6.08.020 Dogs – Licenses required when.
A. Every owner of a dog more than five months of age on
January 1st of any year or five months of age within the license
year
shall annually pay a dog licenses tax and obtain a license. The dog license tax, if paid on or before
April 1st, shall be five dollars for neutered male and spayed female
dogs, and ten dollars for un neutered male and
unsprayed female dogs. An additional fee
of two dollars per dog license shall be paid by all persons purchasing a dog
license after April 1st or more than three months after the dog
becomes five months of age, unless license application is made within one month
after the dog is acquired.. Kennels $50.00
B.
No unlicensed dog shall be at large, and any person
may seize or impound any unlicensed dog found at large. The fact that a dog is
without a proper license tag attached to its collar shall be presumptive
evidence that it is unlicensed.
6.08.030 Dogs – Rabies
vaccination.
A.
It shall be the duty of every dog owner to have their
dog inoculated with an avianized antirabic
vaccine, or any similar vaccine, by a veterinarian every two calendar
years. Dogs under six months of age are
not required to be vaccinated.
B.
Proof of vaccination shall be produced to the village
clerk at the time of application for a dog license.
6.08.040 Dogs - Number restriction in residential areas.
No
individual, family unit living together, firm or corporation shall keep more
than two dogs on any residential lot with the exception that a litter of pups
or a portion of a litter may be kept for a period of time not exceeding five
months from birth.
6.08.060 Dogs and Cats – Running at large is unlawful.
A.
It is unlawful for any person owning or possessing any
dog or cat to permit the same to run at large.
B. For the purpose of this section “running at large” means the presence of a dog or cat at any place except upon the premises of the owner. A dog or cat shall not be considered to be running at large if it is on a leash and under the control of a person physically able to control it.

Note:
Owners are responsible for cleaning up any droppings from their pets
on other properties in the Village of Brokaw.
